Initial Check-up, Treatment, Prevention and Payment Plans
Everyone needs 6 monthly or annual check-ups. That’s how we start taking care of you with prevention of dental disease as our goal.
Your first visit could be to take care of a particular problem such a hole in a tooth or bleeding gums or a toothache. Our first priority will be to take care of this problem and will usually need an examination of your mouth and X-rays of your teeth and jawbones. If time allows, we will create a treatment plan for you and give you a close estimate of the cost to achieve optimal dental health. You can take this written quotation and if required, seek a second opinion. If you discover that another clinic will provide the same services at more affordable rates, we will happily abide by our policy of taking a further 10% OFF any written quotation.
If you accept to proceed, your treatment will be performed in order of priority, from the most urgent to the least serious. This will allow you to budget for the essential treatments first and delay the not-so-essential treatments for 6-12 months. At all times, our goal is to prevent more serious problems from developing in order to not only save your teeth, but to save you unnecessary expenses.
For example, if the check-up reveals that you have 4 cavities, 2 of which are moderately deep and the others are shallow, you will be given the option of having all 4 treated immediately or delaying the shallow fillings for 6-12 months. This will allow you to spread out the cost of your dental care so that you may need to only spend $250 – $350 now and the same in 6-12 months rather than $600 – $700 immediately.
Experience has shown that when the total cost is not affordable, patients will postpone treatment until they can afford ALL of it. However, the moderate size cavities will become deeper very quickly and by the end of 12 months, could end up causing severe toothaches resulting in additional treatments such as root canal therapy, each of which can cost $500 – $1000 more than just the filling! This must be avoided! That’s why we will tell you what is urgent and what is not, allowing you to budget for your essential dental care.
We want you to always have the most conservative and least costly treatment and that means, we must alert you to the most urgent problems first and delay any others issues for later if the budget does not allow having all the treatment immediately.
The alternative to spreading out your treatments is to spread out your payments using CareCredit. This is a zero-interest finance option which allows qualified patients to choose to pay over a 3, 6 or 12 months period. Please discuss this option with your dentist openly to ensure we help you get the best treatment in a manner that makes it most affordable for you.
Once your treatment has been completed, we want to keep you free from further problems by inviting you back on a 6 monthly or annual basis for just a 30minute check-up, cleaning, scaling and protective fluoride treatment. We will reserve time for you after each visit and call you a week before to remind you of your upcoming preventive dental visit. Experience has shown that patients who attend for these regular visits enjoy the best dental health and save the greatest amount in preventable dental bills.
